Enos Lovatt was an abstract artist and lecturer at North Staffordshire Polytechnic born in Mow Cop, Staffordshire in 1937. Having studied at the Burslem School of Art from the age of 15, Lovatt attended the Royal College of Art in 1959 where he was a contemporary of artists such as Frank Bowling and David Hockney.

A prolific painter and draughtsman, much of Lovatt’s early work was informed by his youth growing up at his parent’s house in Mow Cop. Following his time at the Royal College of Art, Enos continued to experiment with line and colour; branching out into a more abstracted mode inspired by his memories, dreams, and vivid imagination, though his surroundings continued to have a keen effect upon his work. Enos lived to create, producing detailed drawings up until the last six months of his life, and leaving behind a magnificent legacy of paintings, drawings, and sketches.
